This South Africa Gourmet Culinary Tour was designed for a well-traveled couple from Chicago. They were food and wine connoisseurs and wanted to see all that South Africa had to offer. This package gave them exclusive access to the finest cuisine in Cape Town, the Winelands, and Hermanus.

They started their South Africa Gourmet Culinary Tour in Cape Town. They stayed 4 nights at the luxurious Cellars-Hohenort, which offers quiet Cape Dutch luxury just a few minutes from the city center. They were escorted up beautiful Table Mountain, then took a private tour of the bustling V&A Waterfront, a commercial center rich in history. Back at Cellars-Hohenort, they enjoyed a gourmet tasting menu from the hotel chef.

The next day, they took a private tour of the Bo-Kaap neighborhood, the seat of Cape Malay culture. They had an incredible opportunity to make traditional Cape Malay cuisine with one of the Malay ladies in her home. That evening, they had a delicious meal at The Test Kitchen, one of Cape Town’s most exclusive restaurants.

Next on their South Africa Gourmet Culinary Tour, they toured the vineyards of Constantia Valley, a renowned wine region in the shadow of Table Mountain. They indulged in a gourmet lunch at the Steenberg estate before enjoying a relaxed wine tasting by the fireplace. The next day, they enjoyed a private tour of the Cape Peninsula and Cape Point, stopping off at Boulders Beach to see the local penguin colony. They enjoyed a fabulous 5-course lunch at the Boathouse, the home of chef Bruce Robertson.

Continuing their South Africa Gourmet Culinary Tour, they stayed 2 nights at Babylonstoren Farm Hotel in Franschhoek, South Africa’s culinary capital. They took a privately guided tour of historic Stellenbosch, enjoying wine tastings and an exquisite lunch, then headed on to Delaire Graaf and Grande Provence for more gourmet wine tastings.

The next day, they took a private tour of the Cape Winelands. Following delicious wine tastings around this world-class wine region, they ate lunch at the esteemed Pierneef Restaurant at La Motte. Next on their South Africa Gourmet Culinary Tour, they toured the Hermanus wine region before heading to their luxurious accommodations at Birkenhead House, where they indulged in a magnificent lunch. After lunch, their guide took them on the famous clifftop walk to spot humpback whales in Walker Bay.

After a week sampling the very best of South African cuisine, their South Africa Gourmet Culinary Tour came to an end. They made their way to Cape Town to begin their journey home.
