Gorilla trekking through the mountain forests on the slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. Bordering Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Virungas are home to more than half of the world’s entire population of mountain gorillas. If you’re lucky, trekking is easy and you’ll find gorillas in no time, however, some of them can be quite elusive, especially during wet weather. So keep an eye out! Gorilla trekking is something that can be enjoyed year-round, however, hiking during the rainy season, April to May and November, can be a bit more challenging. The best times for gorilla trekking is during the dry seasons between December and February, and from June to September.
