This Soneva Jani Resort: Maldives Overwater Bungalow Vacation was designed for a couple from New York City. They worked very busy, high-powered jobs, and they wanted the ultimate getaway to relax, lounge on the beach, and be completely pampered. We sent them to Soneva Jani, one of the most exclusive and beautiful resorts in the Maldives, for a week of pure indulgence.
Their overwater bungalow at Soneva Jani was like something from a dream, with seemingly endless luxurious surprises. The spacious interior was beautifully decorated and featured peaceful ocean views from nearly every vantage point. They had a private deck with plentiful space to sunbathe, as well as a private pool overlooking the ocean—the perfect place to soak up a magnificent sunset while sipping a cocktail. The rooftop featured a cozy dining terrace (where they enjoyed eating breakfast each morning during their stay) as well as a waterslide leading directly into the brilliant turquoise lagoon. One of their favorite features was the retractable roof in their bedroom, so they could view the unobstructed starry sky each evening.
As if the room itself wasn’t opulent enough, they got the true VIP treatment with a seaplane transfer to the resort and a private butler service throughout their stay. Whether they wanted a private dinner on the beach or chilled champagne waiting in their room after an excursion, their attentive and professional “Ms. Friday” arranged it seamlessly.
Their days at Soneva Jani were a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. When they wanted to explore the lagoon, they had complimentary access to kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, catamarans, snorkeling equipment, and more. They also had plenty of luxurious spaces to lounge, both in an out of their villa. And they enjoyed some of Soneva Jani’s signature excursions during their stay as well, including a sunset dolphin cruise, overwater dining and stargazing at So Starstruck restaurant, and a private picnic on a pristine sand cay with no one else in sight.

It was with a heavy heart that they said goodbye to the beautiful island and flew back home. At least they were treated to one last aerial view of the lagoon and the islands on their seaplane transfer back to Malé!

Day 1
Welcome to paradise! Fly into Malé and catch a seaplane transfer to Soneva Jani resort. Your vacation starts off in true VIP style as you soar above jewel-bright lagoons and tiny atolls covered in lush tropical foliage. Arrive at Soneva Jani, your home for the next 7 nights. Your 2-story water villa includes a bedroom with a retractable roof, separate children’s sleeping area, walk-in mini bar, open-air bathroom, living area, and study. Stunning views of the lagoon are visible from nearly every corner of your luxurious villa. Outside, a spacious sundeck and private pool provide the perfect place to lounge. But the real “wow” factor is upstairs, where you’ll find a rooftop dining area and a private waterslide leading directly into the lagoon!

Day 2 – 7
The next 6 days are yours to spend at your leisure, doing as little or as much as you wish. You may never want to leave your fabulous villa (that’s okay—your private butler will bring delicious meals to you). Yet, venture outside and you’ll find a world of unrivaled natural beauty to explore.
On land, enjoy VIP private dining experiences, cooking classes, cultural excursions, and more.
