Safari of the Senses: Winelands, Sabi Sands, and Victoria Falls

This trip has a bit of everything! Start with culinary delights and unique adventures in Cape Town (snorkeling with seals, anyone?), followed by a luxury safari in the Sabi Sands. Finally, stay at a unique island lodge in the Zambezi River and explore Victoria Falls by land and air.

We designed this Safari of the Senses: Winelands, Sabi Sands, and Victoria Falls tour for 2 “empty nester” couples traveling together. They were quite fun and adventurous, and wanted to see all the highlights with a twist. We arranged this unique vacation with a bit of everything: quirky Cape Town, an indulgent culinary adventure, a luxury safari in the Sabi Sands, and an island oasis near Victoria Falls. It was the trip of a lifetime!

They started their trip in Cape Town, where they had gorgeous ocean views at their hotel, the Cape Grace. They had a free evening in town to explore the bars and restaurants, then spent a day exploring the surrounding area with a private guide. They zoomed along the road in vintage WWII sidecars, snorkeled with seals, saw adorable African penguins, and hiked along the scenic Cape Peninsula. They capped off their busy day with some craft beer and local gin tastings.

Next on their Safari of the Senses: Winelands, Sabi Sands, and Victoria Falls tour, they spent 2 days exploring the Cape Winelands, South Africa’s culinary capital, with a private guide. They visited award-winning wineries, from the grand to the boutique, and even had a chance to meet some of the winemakers and enjoy a few barrel tastings. And of course, they sampled some delicious produce and innovative cuisine from the region, as well.

Their journey continued to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve—Kruger National Park’s more exclusive and luxurious neighbor. They spent 4 nights at Simbambili Game Lodge, allowing ample time to see the Big 5 and much more on safari! Much more than a simple check off the list, their safari experience was an unforgettable immersion into the wondrous and wild heart of Africa.

Victoria Falls was the last stop on their Safari of the Senses: Winelands, Sabi Sands, and Victoria Falls tour, but the experience was far from ordinary! They stayed at Islands of Siankaba, an incredible lodge located on 2 private islands in the midst of the Zambezi River, upstream from the Falls. They had a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, rode bicycles down to a nearby local village, and capped off the trip with a fabulous sunset cruise on the Zambezi.

At last, their whirlwind adventure came to an end and it was time to say goodbye. They were simply thrilled with their trip and couldn’t wait to tell their friends and family all about their adventures in Africa!
