When To Go

When is the best time to go to the Maldives?

The Maldives has two distinct seasons: Dry Season (January through March during the northeast monsoon) and Wet Season (mid-May through November during the southwest monsoon). The temperature hardly ever changes, sticking around 30°C (86°F) and the sun is constant on an almost daily basis. This type of weather really creates a destination that you can visit anytime of year. We suggest visiting between November and April, as to avoid the wet season. However, the rare thunderstorm (usually during the Wet Season) won’t put a damper on things, usually it’s welcome and you can still enjoy a walk in the rain or a lazy day.

Best Time to Dive

The Maldives has some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world. Here you’ll find clear waters, a rich variety of marine life including huge coral walls, schools of brightly colored fish, manta rays, turtles, sharks, and the world’s largest fish- the whale shar (you can even spot baby sharks in almost any of the lagoons). Diving can take place any time of year, due to the amazingly consistant weather. Best of all, the water is so warm you needn’t wear a wetsuit.

Best Time to Honeymoon
Just like with diving, the Maldives are perfect for a honeymoon almost year round. The optimal time to visit, weather wise, is November through April (avoiding the wet season).
